Zay: Denzel(Curry) like, kinda my manager, like part of my management team.
Jody: So how did y’all meet?
Zay: Kinda on some crazy shit, I met this n**** at my job. Jody: Where did you work?
Zay: I used to work at Cheesecake, I was a host. I didn’t even rap and I deadass was like outside, like looking for the person tables. Like I was walking around, “Jake, table for two? Jake, table for two?” At the time he had his ‘Dukes’ like the old ones type shit, and we from the same hood, and back then if you had them, you was FROM my hood. So I saw him with them and I’m just like, “Who the hell this n****?” The place I worked at it was in a more suburban area, so I saw Denzel walk through, and as he got closer I’m like, “Oh shit you’re Denzel Curry.” And he's like, “Oh yeah! It was crazy cause you know we went to the same school, we from the same hood, and I started tellin’ his ass that. And then he was just tappin’ in on me, this n**** at some crazy shit. He was like, “You rock.” And I said, “Nahhh.” He’s like, “Oh, you got a voice for it.” And I’m like woah, you a rapper tellin’ me I got a voice for rapping. Jody: That’s crazy.
Zay: Yeah, and the whole time I always dreamed of rapping, I always wanted to be Michael Jackson, like legit, I just wanted to be a star. I just never thought to do it. Then that happened, and fast forward two years later I started doin’ it for real, and his best friend found my music off Instagram.
