How the AF-1 Mule came to life.
I never thought I’d wear AF-1s... But before I knew it I couldn't take them off.
Ag Club gifted everyone a pair as a part of the Eva music video wardrobe.
My first pair. Heavy, clunky, and built like a tank. I wore them every day for 4 months. To the beach, shows, rock climbing, wherever. Pretty quickly I got lazy and started crushing the heel until it was flat. Started to become my loungue easy everyday shoe.
While working on the Hole in 1's Jort with Perk (Brian Perkins), I told him I wanted to make it a mule. He pulled out a huge pair of scissors, chopped off the back, and told me to take it to a cobbler and add some safety fabric to clean it up.
I showed the cobbler the shoe. He looked down at the shoe for a long while while I explained to him what I needed. He finally looked up at me and said
“Okay. Give me a week.”
I came back a week later... and it was alive.
I wore it on my first tour. That shoe holds a special place in my heart. Always ready, for on the move, big stepping, quick and easy. heavy duty mule. A real tank. THE WORLD DOMINATORS
